“A Playground For Katie & Friends” Grand Opening Oct. 25, 2003 Huguenot Park, Chesterfield County

Katie & Friends Inc. was started in 2002 by Jane Warrick. Jane is the

mother of two daughters, Katie and Kelsey. One with disabilities and

one without.

She learned very early on that going to a playground was extremely difficult.

Since the opening of A Playground For Katie & Friends, she has inspired many to take this concept to their communities. Mary Munford playground, St Edwards School playground, and just recently Pole Green Park and Poor Farm Park in Hanover. Katie & Friends, Inc. will be working with Henrico County to put in a new playground at Dorey Park.

Jane’s goal is to have one big Universal playground in every county of Virginia and at least one adaptive swing in every park with accessibility to it. But so much more needs to be done. Jane wants to work in conjunction with Parks and Recreation Departments, local and state agencies to raise money and awareness to make adaptive playgrounds everywhere.
